What were you thinking??

Have you ever heard someone say, “What were you thinking?!” Normally that exclamation comes after an extremely bad decision, but it’s probably a good question to ask ourself regularly. What have we been thinking about?

The Word of God says in Colossians 3, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

The word affection, from the Greek word φρονεῖτε, means to think on, to consider, to entertain in the mind. Paul encourages us to choose carefully what we focus on, what we think about, and what we allow to consume our thoughts. Do we focus more on the things of this world that fade away, or do we spend more of our time focused on spiritual things that will matter for eternity?

So the question stands— “What were you thinking?”
